Baton Rouge, La. | March 15, 2016 - Louisiana Clean Fuels is hosting a demonstration of the Proterra Electric Bus on Thurs., March 31 in Downtown Baton Rouge’s Town Square from 2-3p.m.

“Creating opportunities for people to step inside of an EV, ask questions and see the technology first-hand is vital component of increasing EV adoption,” said Ann Shaneyfelt, Louisiana Clean Fuels Executive Director. “These and other alternative fuel buses have the ability to transform public transit while helping Louisiana communities to improve their air quality.”

Proterra has sold more than 122 vehicles to 15 different transit agencies throughout North America. The company’s products are designed, engineered and manufactured in America, with offices in Silicon Valley and South Carolina.

“Plug-in Electric buses (PEVs) have zero tailpipe emissions and enable bus fleet operators to reduce fueling and maintenance costs while delivering a clean, quiet experience for riders,” explains Shaneyfelt.

“We’re excited about adding the Proterra buses to our fleet and look forward to the benefits – cleaner air, a quieter ride in a sleek, modern vehicle, and fuel and maintenance cost savings, “ said J. Barry Barker, Executive Director of TARC in Louisville, KY. “Proterra’s American-made buses have been tested against stringent industry standards and are in operation by other transit agencies.”

The bus will be setup at the transit shelter in Town Square, and the event is free and open to the public. Visit the Events page at for more information.

This event is part of Louisiana Clean Fuels’ Plugin Louisiana initiative, which provides resources for individuals and fleets who own or are considering purchasing electric vehicles (EVs). Under Plugin Louisiana, the coalition is also working to increase the amount of electric vehicle charging stations across the state and effectively promote where those stations are located.
