Letter from the Executive Director

Clean Fuel Members, Stakeholders, and Enthusiasts

As we move into spring, Louisiana Clean Fuels remains focused on one of our most important roles: keeping stakeholders connected to reliable information, practical resources, and each other.

One highlight from this past month was our first Coffee Hour Open Office Hours. It was a great way to connect informally with members and partners and have a real conversation about the Annual Fleet Activity Report, current fleet challenges, and the questions organizations are navigating right now. We look forward to hosting more of these accessible conversations throughout the year.

In this issue, you’ll also find our latest Transportation Data Points update with new Louisiana EV registration and charging infrastructure data, along with information about upcoming opportunities including the Electric School Bus Technical Support Webinar Series and our Drive Electric Earth Month event in Baton Rouge.

We will also soon be sharing results from our Annual Stakeholder Survey. Thank you to everyone who participated. Your feedback is helping us better understand what resources are most useful and how we can best support fleets, communities, and industry partners across Louisiana. Be on the look out for programing related to CNG, renewable fuels, propane and more!

Finally, thank you to the organizations that have already renewed their Louisiana Clean Fuels membership for 2026. Your continued support helps sustain more than 25 years of collaboration across our state. If you have not yet renewed, we hope you will continue to stay connected with our network.

As always, thank you for the work you do every day to move practical transportation solutions forward in Louisiana.

Technical AFV Training

Electric School Bus Technical Support Webinar Series

Tuesdays: March 31–April 21, 2026

Managing a school bus fleet requires balancing safety, reliability, budgets, and long-term planning. For districts considering or operating electric school buses, new questions often arise around procurement, charging infrastructure, workforce training, and maintenance.

Louisiana Clean Fuels is hosting a four-part online training series designed for school transportation directors, fleet managers, and district decisionmakers. Participants will gain practical insights from industry experts, utilities, manufacturers, and school districts already operating electric fleets.

Each session will explore key topics including electric school bus fundamentals, preparing staff for electric bus operations, maintenance and warranty considerations, and developing a reliable charging strategy. The interactive sessions also provide an opportunity for districts to ask questions and learn from peers navigating similar challenges.

Webinars take place every Tuesday from March 31 through April 21, 2026.

👉 Learn more and register for individual sessions in the full article.

If you have questions or would like to discuss your district’s needs, contact Elizabeth at [email protected].

Transportation Data Points

Transportation Data Points: New EV Registration and Charging Data for Louisiana

The latest data show that Louisiana’s electric vehicle market continues to expand at a steady pace. New registration data and updated charging infrastructure information both point to gradual but consistent progress as EV adoption spreads across metro areas and regional communities.

EV Registrations Continue Steady Growth

The March EV registration numbers are in, and Louisiana added 217 electric vehicles in February, bringing the statewide total to 21,491 EVs.

Growth continues across both major metro areas and regional parishes. Orleans Parish led the state in monthly growth, adding 45 EVs, while Jefferson Parish remains the state leader in total EV registrations.

Several regional and suburban parishes also continue to show steady gains, including Ascension, Livingston, Lafayette, and Tangipahoa, reinforcing that EV adoption is expanding beyond Louisiana’s largest cities.

👉 Learn more: Read the full March EV adoption report.

Louisiana’s Charging Network Expands

At the same time, Louisiana’s EV charging infrastructure continues to grow. According to the latest data from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuel Station Locator, Louisiana now has:

  • 277 public EV charging locations
  • 859 public charging ports statewide
  • 378 DC fast charging ports

With roughly 21,000 EVs on Louisiana roads, the state currently has about one public charging port for every 25 EVs.

Another notable trend is that charging capacity is growing faster than the number of locations, suggesting that many providers are expanding existing sites with additional chargers as demand increases.

Together, these data points highlight a consistent trend: as infrastructure expands and EVs become more visible on Louisiana roads, adoption continues to grow across the state.

Autonomous Freight Expands With Bot Auto, Ryan Transportation Partnership

February 26, 2026 | Via ACT-News

Bot Auto and Ryan Transportation have announced a partnership to launch fully driverless freight service between Houston and Dallas, targeting commercial operations in spring 2026. The 200-mile corridor was selected for its consistent freight demand and operational predictability, making it well suited for autonomous deployment. Bot Auto will provide driverless trucks through its Transportation-as-a-Service model, while Ryan Transportation integrates that capacity into its brokerage network to offer autonomous options to shippers in Texas.

This partnership signals that autonomous freight is no longer theoretical. Defined lanes, strong brokerage partnerships, and clear operational use cases are accelerating real-world deployment. As we continue tracking emerging freight technologies, this is one to watch closely.

If you joined us at the Clean Fuels Summit, you may remember Jay Lau of Bot Auto outlining what it will take to move autonomous freight from pilot projects to real commercial deployment. His presentation highlighted the operational realities behind autonomy, and this latest announcement shows the industry is moving quickly from discussion to action. You can watch his full presentation on our YouTube channel.

LCF Projects and Programs

Stakeholder Survey Highlights: What We Heard

Earlier this year, Louisiana Clean Fuels asked stakeholders to share feedback on our programs, communications, and events. The survey provided helpful direction for our 2026 work and reinforced the importance of practical, stakeholder-focused engagement.

Survey Results: What Technologies are you most interested in?

Overall, respondents rated LCF’s newsletter, website, and events positively, with especially strong interest in workshops, webinars, and educational programming. Stakeholders said they value LCF as a trusted source of information, connections, and practical support.

Survey Results: What do you want from a workshop?
What do you want to learn more about?

The survey also highlighted strong interest in efficiency strategies, electric vehicles, renewable fuels, funding opportunities, legislative updates, networking, and technical training. Respondents expressed interest in both virtual and in-person engagement, including open office hours and networking events.

We have already started putting this feedback into practice, including the launch of our first virtual Coffee Hour Open Office Hour. We appreciate everyone who took the time to participate and help shape LCF’s work for the year ahead.
