2016 Sustainable Transportation Summit Followed by Annual Bioenergy Conference
Hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), the first ever Sustainable Transportation Summit will bring together transportation and mobility leaders to discuss the technology, policy, and market innovations that hold the potential to shape the transportation system of the future.

When: July 11–July 12
Where: Washington Convention Center
This year's summit will highlight progress and achievements in sustainable transportation research and development and efforts to bring new technologies to market, including the President's EV Everywhere Grand Challenge. It will also serve as a forum to share ideas and perspectives on opportunities to accelerate the commercialization and deployment of advanced transportation technologies and smart mobility systems over the next decade.
Come hear from industry, government, and academic thought leaders on topics including:
- Pathways to Deep Decarbonization in Transportation—meeting the administration's bold targets for reducing U.S. greenhouse gas emissions 83% by 2050.
- Adoption of New Vehicle Technology—influencing consumer decisions and behavior to support energy efficiency and low-carbon objectives.
- Net-Zero Carbon Fuels—enabling the production of new fuels from sunlight and CO2 via scientific breakthroughs.
- The Future of Mobility—realizing an interconnected and intelligent transportation system for the safe and efficient movement of people and goods.
EERE advances the development of next-generation technologies to reduce the cost and improve the performance of plug-in electric and other alternative-fuel vehicles, improve advanced combustion engines and vehicle efficiency, and enable low-carbon, domestically-produced transportation fuels. Through parallel tracks on day two, EERE's Vehicle, Bioenergy, and Fuel Cell Technologies Offices will engage with key stakeholders on some of its highest profile, transformative initiatives, including:
- EV Everywhere
- Hydrogen Fuels and Infrastructure
- Biotechnology for Clean Vehicles: Harnessing Synthetic Biology to Enable Next-Generation Biomaterials and Biofuels
- Workplace Charging Challenge
- Clean Cities and SMART Mobility
- Co-Optimization of Fuels and Vehicles.
The Sustainable Transportation Summit seeks to engage a diverse stakeholder community with interests spanning a broad technology portfolio, from fuel cells and vehicle electrification to the bioenergy supply chain.
Attendees representing the following organizations are expected:
- Industry (manufacturers, suppliers)
- University and academia
- Federal government
- State and local governments
- Non-governmental organizations
- Financial institutions
- National laboratories
- Bioenergy supply chain (e.g., feedstock producers, bioenergy partners)
- Technology providers
- Industry associations
- Consultants
- Automotive original equipment manufacturers.
Register today for the Sustainable Transportation Summit. Space is limited.

DON'T MISS BIOENERGY 2016 AFTER THE SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION SUMMIT
On July 12–14, 2016, the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) will host its ninth annual conference—Bioenergy 2016: Mobilizing the Bioeconomy through Innovation. Each year approximately 600 participants attend the conference, including key stakeholders from the bioenergy industry, Congress, national laboratories, academia, and the financial community. Partnering with the Clean Energy Research and Education Foundation (CEREF), this year's conference will focus on opportunities to grow future feedstock supplies and breakthrough technology barriers to achieve a stronger bioeconomy.
