SHREVEPORT, La. (KTBS) -
Shreveport is priming the pumps for its newest compressed natural gas station.

Dignitaries cut the ribbon at Freedom Fuel on West 70th Street, a couple blocks west of I-49.

It's the first public-access CNG station in Shreveport, supplying fuel to all types of fleet vehicles.

Ivan Smith Furniture, which owns the station, says this opens the door for access to new types of fuel in our community.

"The payback has been phenomenal as a fleet owner for Ivan Smith Furniture. And moving to Freedom Fuel, my brother and I, we opened this up at a request from Eagle Distributing. They needed a place to fuel their vehicles," says owner Trey Smith.

Freedom Fuel supplies CNG to heavy and medium duty trucks, as well as light-duty family vehicles.
