    WHAT IS GREEN FLEETS CERTIFICATION?

The Louisiana Clean Fuels (LCF) Green Fleets Program is designed to recognize fleets for their progress towards their emission reduction goals as well as to assist fleets in deploying solutions that improve the economic and environmental performance of vehicle operations.

LCF will review your fleet’s fuel use and vehicle data to conduct emissions analyses. The process provides you with a score that acts as a reliable benchmark for your progress over time. Fleets will be certified on a 5-star scale based on their efforts, and once certified, will be recognized for their hard work at our annual awards event.

BENEFITS OF BEING AN LCF CERTIFIED GREEN FLEET

    • Educational opportunities with workshops, training, and more
    • Recognition and certification as an environmental fleet leader
    • Public Relations: Certification branding provided to help promote your fleet's achievements
    • Access to informational resources on technology options and available incentives
    • Connections with vendors offering advanced fuel and vehicle technologies, equipment, conversion systems, and more
    • Funding assistance with grant opportunities; better data makes a better application

    ELIGIBLE VEHICLES

    • Light-duty commercial and passenger vehicles
    • Medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks and other on-road vehicles
    • Off-road vehicles including locomotives, construction equipment, and cargo-handling vehicles

    ANALYSIS AND SCORING SYSTEM

To quantify fleet emissions, LCF’s Green Fleets program utilizes its own variation of the U.S. Department of Energy and Argonne National Laboratory’s Alternative Fuel Life-Cycle Environmental and Economic Transportation (AFLEET) Tool.

Points are available through the following items:

    1. Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction: pounds of greenhouse gases, including CO2, reduced
    2. Pollutant Emissions Reductions: pounds of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM2.5) reduced
    3. Percentage of Petroleum Use Reduction: percent reduction in total petroleum (gasoline & diesel) use
    4. Percentage of Alternative Fuel Vehicles (AFVs): percent increase in number of AFVs in on-going use

We will add points from all factors above and this total will be used to determine whether a fleet qualifies for designation as an LCF Green Fleet and what level of designation has been earned.

One Star – at least 20 total points

Two Stars – at least 40 total points

Three Stars – at least 70 total points

Four Stars – at least 110 total points

Five Stars – at least 160 total points

    HOW TO ENROLL

Enrolling is simple, free, and obligation-free! Any eligible fleet that wishes to apply must submit specific baseline data as well as data on specific efficiency and alternative fuel technologies deployed in their fleet operations. To be considered for recognition in the program, fleets must provide the following data:

    • Total annual fuel use for all fuel types (i.e., gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuels)
    • Relevant fleet data such as vehicle types, model years, number of vehicles, and which ones operate using alternative fuels

Fill out this short form or email LCF’s Co-Coordinator Tyler Herrmann at [email protected] to begin your enrollment process now!

    CERTIFIED FLEETS

Louisiana Clean Fuels will recognize its annual class of LCF Green Fleets on its website and through press releases. Once certified, your organization will receive a report detailing your emissions reductions and scoring under the program. Fleets will need to re-certify as changes are made to their fleets and alternative fuel usage.
